  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Battery Type

Good to know, but also complicated things a bit - as we do not know (and Scout probably does not know) exactly which flavor of NMC will actually be used.

Scout Pricing and State Rebate Programs

Large print giveth, fine print taketh away. My state has never had any additional incentives, but I bet those that did also had taxable income levels tied to it as well. I recall at my office, a couple people used a loophole in the federal tax credit system to get free electric community...

Will Scout Work With Future 3rd Party Battery Retrofit/Replacement Companies? (Right to Repair)

I don't know on a state by state level - but my assumption (based on what happened in my state) is Tesla did not get much federal support for installing chargers, but many companies that installed CCS chargers did. In Texas, Tesla submitted a proposal that was about 1/3 the cost per charger and...

Towing a Off-Road Trailer with the Terra

kind of relevant. Towing tests with an EV truck. Interesting. Just towing a trailer hurts m/kw a bunch - extra rolling resistance. But put a sail on the same trailer (same weight) devastates m/kw. Loading down the vehicle (without adding a trailer and without adding wind resistance) barely...

    Spare tire discussion

Cool, can probably live with 33" tires - our Rubicon came with them (although we did put 35" on it eventually). Plus, others can correct me - but as a spare, even if you are using 35" tires, a 33" spare would probably work. Only annoying part would be needing to throw the flat in the back

Will Scout Work With Future 3rd Party Battery Retrofit/Replacement Companies? (Right to Repair)

While more charging stations is a good thing, hard for me to get hyper excited about Ionna charging. 60% of their chargers will be CCS. If I had to guess, currently over 50% of the EV's in the US use NACS, and going forward, the vast majority of new EV's will also be NACS. Politics was the...

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

It sometimes seems to me that virtually all vehicles are designed by people who live in much cooler environments than me. I think I have read that it is not uncommon for temps in vehicles can hit 175 during our summer - opening the door feels like stepping into an EZ bake oven. It would be...

    Spare tire discussion

Perhaps a stupid question. I recall the rear tire carrier is an option on the Traveler. What is the spare tire option without it?

PLEASE DO NOT DO AN EXCLUSIVE DEAL WITH STARLINK - NO MUSK

You are not locked in, but I think companies are paying Tesla for the ability for their cars to use the Tesla network - or at least the google articles I saw implied that. Something like Tesla making millions off of partnerships with various manufacturers (Ford was mentioned in particular - but...

    Adventure Key - NFC wristband

Might not be the prettiest - but I love the keypad on my Ford. I can not count how many times per week I am outside (without my keys) and need to grab something in my truck. That said, when I started kayaking, I had a physical key for my truck - and that worked great. My VW still has a hidden...

    Slide In Camper Ready

Watched and skimmed a bit of the series. Mostly 2/3 of the time charging at level 2, with slow driving (30mph) between to manage to get 2 miles per kwh. That said, even getting 2 miles per kwh is not bad considering they did have a camper on top and were at max weight on the vehicle.

PLEASE DO NOT DO AN EXCLUSIVE DEAL WITH STARLINK - NO MUSK

No Musk - would you like them to get rid of NACS and the ability to use the Tesla charging network as well?

    RIGGHHHHT!

The v8 option shown would probably get a few people excited too.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Honestly, since I have not driven either a Tesla or a Rivian - I can not fairly comment. Before politics got in the way, Tesla had a pretty good reputation in the EV community, and Rivian appears to have a good one now. That said, Scout is partnered with Tesla (most manufacturers who sell in...

    Size comparison

Have been using Qi2 for a bit (battery bank). It works a lot better than the magnetic charger that the Expedition had in it. Only problem is my kids are battery bank thieves.

    Slide In Camper Ready

While I understand there will be interest, I think the market is limited for slide in campers designed for 1/2 ton trucks with 5.5' beds. That said, I would still be tempted to do a UTE tray and canopy on a Terra (well more tempted if it was a 6.5' bed). That said, depending on dimensions. I...

    Size comparison

All the vehicles were at the house today, so got out a tape measure. Wrangler center console is about 7", Explorer and F250 are 12". Well my hips are a bit wider that that, but the difference will allow a bench seat to work (although the only real reason I want the bench is dog room not hip...

    Optional Third Row

Did a road trip in a 3 row Expedition this weekend. As much seating as our minivan-and 1/2 the cargo area. While the back seat is tight in the Wrangler-it honestly has almost as much usable area (better cargo area). I know why my wife was afraid of taking the Wrangler this year (it was a 3hr...

    Size comparison

We got rid of our Tahoe many years ago, so I am not really used to driving one anymore-but have had an Unlimited Wrangler for years now. We discuss size comparisons a lot - but did a trip in an Expedition this weekend (which in my mind is Suburban sized). One thing I have not seen much talk...

Thoughts on Long-Term Charging Plans for Overlanding and Rural Travel?

I guess it would depend on how overlanding is defined. Before I was married, I kayaked a bunch. For 6 months of the year I was on the/a river about every other weekend - mostly camping out of my truck. My truck was well set up for it, so I camped out of it for hunting as well. But we called...
