6-ScoutFamily’s Scouting Memories

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Might have trouble getting the new Scouts through this spot.

The ‘Z’ switchback on the face of the saddle between Uncompahgre and Chrystal peaks. It’s necessary to reverse up the central leg as there is no room for a turnaround. See dad looking over his shoulder as he’s reversing. Uncompahgre peak at top.

The first switchback below the mill on the Black Bear, it’s probably the worst of the bunch. IIRC it was about a 5 point maneuver to make the corner. That’s me driving, I was 17. The old Scouts did not turn tightly. Even the original Broncos had trouble making this corner without backing up.

This thread is really bringing my thinking into focus. In a way earlier thread I mentioned that my Scout ‘want’ is emotional, based on my growing up experiences. My posts above should make this clear.

If I’m brutally honest with myself, a Slate will do 99-44/100’s % of my present and anticipated use needs. Ugh!

:poop: 🫣 😵‍💫  😭 🤬 🤮 (And any other emoji you can think of)

You get the picture. I could go with a Maverick of some flavor… but i don’t know. The price begins to climb again.

Emotion is probably going to win. Ugh!

For me my cars are very emotional purchases as well. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. My family never owned Scouts, but now with this community and the way SM is intertwining the old and new together, I just couldn’t fathom purchasing anything else. Seeing the passion of all the Scout owners and SM employees at Nats solidified my decision.

We went to that cars and coffee the other day. It was near the Honda dealership and they had some of their overflow cars in the same lot. They had a Passport Trail edition. We took a look at it and it was $54k. My husband said oh that’s not bad and this looks pretty nice why don’t you lease something like this until your Scout arrives. I told him in no uncertain terms no. It will be hard to line up the timing and I don’t want to be stuck in a lease I can’t get out of and my Scout is ready.

My husband said I get this feeling that you would feel like you are “cheating” on the Scout buying something else. As stupid as that sounds he’s right. I am emotionally attached to the Traveler and there’s no buying anything else.

Are there less expensive things out there that would work for my needs? Sure.

Will I buy one? Absolutely not.

The Traveler is it for me.
