From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.
Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.
How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.
Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. And I’m done. I have watched down and up. I need to see if I can find the first one somewhere. I would really like to see that series too.

Wow, my Apple TV subscription pays off! They did four seasons, Up, Down, Round, and Home.
So it goes round, down, up and then home is the new one that starts on the 9th.
I just finished watching long way round last night. Just in time for the new one to start today. I have watched down and up. I don’t know what I’m going to watch when I’m done with the new ones. I have really enjoyed these.
Yay I can’t wait!! My husband really likes the show too so every night we watch a couple. So we are starting the new one tonight. Did they drop them all at once or is it one at a time?
They dropped two and the joy these guys have riding thier bikes together is infectious. I see them and think maybe they are to old to handle this trip then I Google thier ages and Ewan is ten years younger then I am. His wife is adorable and from Utah. Loved Trainspotting movie.
He'll come around, just emphasize that gas engines are unreliable compared to EV and they're more expensive to own and operate. Combustion engines are so needy!
Full EV is the way to go if you want to save money and have a more reliable vehicle. Once you go full EV you never go back. It would be like going from a bullet train to a steam locomotive, why would you want to downgrade to a combustion engine?!
Just started the the new one. When they take off on their journey they are playing Big Country. I saw that band in concert years ago. And yay the Rivians again!!
Several auto makers were going to start implementing GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filters) like Diesels have had before adding DPF systems. So your little gasser would need to regen like the big boys.
They have gotten more and more complicated over the years. A lot of manufacturers have also had some pretty serious issues with cams failing. Some engines like the once venerable Chevy 5.3 now require the ENTIRE ENGINE being pulled just to replace the cam.
Many smaller gas engines are using turbos which further complicates them. It’s also PITA to work on just about any modern car yourself.
Swapping CVs, brakes pads, and windshield wipers every so many years sounds a lot easier to manage. EV makers usually offer far more generous battery and motor warranties than ICE counterparts too.

I just sat down to watch tv and realized I’m done with all the Long Way shows. Boo! They were all really good. If anyone hasn’t seen them they are worth the time. There’s Long Way Round. Long Way Down. Long Way Up and Long Way Home. The last two series have Rivians as their support vehicles. Now I have to find something else to watch.

All of Anthony Bourdains stuff is pretty good too. I loved the No Reservations series.
Such a loss with Anthony. If you haven’t watched the series check out tasting Italy with Stanley Tucci. It’s a phenominal series and everyone I know who has watched it wants to move to Italy
Note that the Rivians didn’t feature much in Long Way Home.
