From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.
Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.
How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Welcome to the SM forum. Lots to see and weeks worth of reading so enjoy and ask any questions as the majority of us are always willing to direct you to answers or suggest threads that you might be interested in. The search button is also great for finding topics you might be interested in
New to the forum, so apologies if the question has been asked. How quiet is the Traveler going to be inside while driving? What kind of noise does the Harvester option add? Also curious about the maintenance required.

Welcome to the community. First of all no apology necessary.
We haven’t heard what they will sound like yet. And I would imagine the roof option you choose would make a difference in the amount of noise in the cabin.
As for maintenance, nothing has been said officially. The only consensus seems to be that the Harvester will require more than the BEV.

Oh and also if you do watch the Jay Lenos Garage episode with the Scout just know the engine noise is not what the real engine will sound like. My understanding is that engine is just something to move the concept around.

Welcome aboard. Concur with the others. It was rumored at the reveal that they have recorded some of the sounds from one of the original Scouts. Don’t know what that means for us, if anything. As far as noise, it really comes down to whether you are a good singer and how loud you belt it out when doing the daily commute

Wait recorded original sounds. Is this perhaps an Ioniq 5N situation with multiple sounds where we can have our Scout sound like an old timey Scout! And I know some of you all out there don’t want any sound so I would assume you can turn it off like you can in other cars.Welcome aboard. Concur with the others. I am all for sounds to play with and turn off when I’m done. Ha!
Like I said, it was a rumor and nothing was mentioned other than recording sounds so who knows. Would be cool to have a couple sounds if it’s an on/off type feature
It would be fun to have a lumpy idle sound. I would disable it at a stop light and pretend the engine stalled, then take off and scare whoever is with me.
I thought it wierd that Ford added slight, but noticable artificial engine sounds to my 2019 Ranger so that when I accelerated quickly it came over the sound system. Sounded neat, but....
A lot of new cars tie in the artificial sound to the speakers. Like you said-it’s a fun novelty. On a silent EV I kinda hope it’s quiet (used to want noise but more I read here I like the quiet). Just hope that low speed safety noise is tolerable
I may be mistaken, ut I thought user-customizable low speed sounds for an SUV were illegal.
Personally, I think the sound from the vehicles in the old Jetson's cartoon would be a hoot, but I'm sure I'd get sick of it after a while. (How many of us who are getting up there in years would instantly recognize it, or at least hear it and think "where have I heard that before?")

I genuinely hope there is a way to disable fake engine noises and pedestrian alert sounds.
I do not want to be rolling through the woods or desert and listening to that “an EV is coming” annoying white noise sound. I dislike it enough on city streets but not arguing with the safety factor.

You are correct. Low speed has to be consistent as a manufacturer from what I recall meaning ALL Scouts must sound the same at low speed. Any other customized sounds could be start up, dropping the pedal to the floor or the old…

Q: What level of off-road capability will Scout vehicles have?
A: Scout vehicles are designed to be highly capable off-road, featuring high ground clearance and excellent approach, departure, and breakover angles. They are projected to come standard with dual motors for four-wheel drive, a solid rear axle, a locking rear differential, and off-road drive modes. Plus, the bumpers and rockers are separated from the body and are designed to act as protective elements.
For even more capability, customers will be able to select an optional off-road package, which includes off-road tires, special shock tuning, a locking front differential, and more. Scout vehicles will also offer a front sway bar disconnect, designed to improve wheel articulation, comfort, and traction on uneven terrain – offering the best of both on-road and off-road handling. Final details will be confirmed as we approach production.
Q: What manufacturer estimated range will Scout vehicles offer?
A: Scout Motors estimates the Traveler™ SUV and Terra™ pickup will have up to 350 miles (563 km) of all-electric range or more than 500 miles (804 km) for gas-powered range extender-equipped versions. Q: How will the Harvester™ range extender work?
A: To account for different work needs, we're planning to offer the choice of two energy systems: an all-electric system, or a gas-powered range extender called Harvester™. The Harvester™ Range Extender is a generator packaged in the vehicle platform that will recharge the vehicle's high voltage battery. It unlocks the ability to refuel anywhere and extend the expected range to over 500 miles (based on manufacturer estimates, EPA estimates will be provided when available.).
Q: What is the projected ground clearance for Scout vehicles?
A: Scout vehicles are projected to offer over 1 foot of ground clearance. These are preliminary specifications and may change. They may not accurately represent production vehicle sizes or all available trims and offerings. Final details will be confirmed as we approach production.
Q: What water fording capability will Scout vehicles offer?
A: Both Scout models are engineered for high water fording performance, with a projected ability to wade through and traverse water depths of nearly 3 feet.
Q: Will Scout vehicles offer a front bench seat?
A: Yes. We plan for customers to choose between a multifunctional console or a front bench seat—both options will be available to order in the Traveler™ and Terra™ models.
Now for some questions I couldn't find in the thread:
1) What charge ports are you offering? I'd personally love to see both CC1/J1772 and NACS to avoid adapter use and allow for all possible charger locations.
2) Does your native operating/navigation system automatically plot charging locations for trip planning? I've gotten quite used to not having to stress about finding chargers when the Nav does it for me.
3) Will there be manual controls for engaging differential lock, traction control and the front drive motor? I'm thinking along the lines of a divorced transfer case...
1) The prototypes use NACS, I believe that is also what is planned for the production models?
2) I believe that we've seen automagic route planning in some of the UX videos, but perhaps I'm hallucinating like AI
.3) Some of this has been discussed. Manual locker controls are confirmed (F/R/C I believe), but I don't think we've seen anything about a FWD-low sort of "digger" option. Although in other threads we've talked about cutting brakes, and "trail braking" which do similar things, but AFAIK we haven't heard anything official on any of that front.
