How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I have a 21 Bronco and have enjoyed doing all the mods. I think less is more, but I do like the idea of wheel options, grille variations, sport hood options, side steps/Running boards, rock rails, etc. mud guards, side mirror options, and some exterior lighting options. I know when I ordered my Bronco there were too many options. And then there were the overpriced accessories everyone was coming up with. I hope they keep it easy.

I’m hoping for dual color options like found on the latest Jeep GC and Toyota Land Crusier.

Dark or blacked out badging and trim options.

On the interior side, color and material options are a must.

I’m really hoping for fun color options. Part of the reason I stopped looking at the 6th gen 4Runner was because of the color choices. They are really limited and the interior colors are even more limited. I would love 2 tone options on the body and different wheel choices. It would be great to have options for modifications at point of purchase. Different wheels, tires, options for lighting packages such as A pillar lights and roof racks. It would also be nice if the scout had bolt holes in places were aftermarket lights and roof racks, etc go. That makes it so much easier to add those items later. I always say my Wrangler is like the Lego of cars. You can add things and take them away with relative ease.

The other thing I very much like about my Wrangler is that even though there are millions of them out there no two are alike. That’s what I am looking for in replacing my Wrangler. I do not want to walk into a parking lot and see another car that’s exactly the same as mine.

The ability to fit bigger wheels and tires without sacrificing turn radius that would be a nice to have. If I were really getting my wish list, I'd ask for the remote disconnect sway bar option from the Wrangler Rubicon.

Asking directly what people want... Love to see it.

All the modification possible.

Only thing i ask is don’t make the configurator do the thing where lets say you put a different rim on and then it says it will change body color, interior color, etc. thats when i draw the line and close the website and quit on configuring a new vehicle.

As someone above said, the more the better! Most of this stuff is just SW options so its easy on an EV.

One idea that I haven’t seen on here yet is shipping wheels. In the tractor world it’s not uncommon to have a new tractor come in on wooden wheels because the owner wants a custom option or something they already own. I don’t think wood is the answer, but some cheap wheels and rubber to roll on until the customer puts on their own wheels would be good. Then the wheels are returned to Scout to use again. It would save money and cut down on waste. I usually like factory wheels, but we all know there will be plenty of people that put on aftermarket wheels and tires.

Lots of color options as has already been suggested.

White top, black top, body color top, soft tops.

More than just black or tan interior colors.

Carpet delete option.

Maybe bumper delete option, or have different bumper options to accommodate grill guards and winches.

Make the screens on the interior configurable. I love this in the BMW iX. You could have vintage looking gauges one day, off road camera view the next day. Then change to energy views, etc etc. it keeps the vehicle feeling fresh longer.

Basically, within reason, don’t make the customer order something they just don’t want.
I like the gauge configuration option. I would like to see it extendable with an owners own graphics, similar to the Holley Sniper (which I’m running on my 76 Scout II) Pro dashes that you can customize.

How about a gas can holder, but instead of gas in the can it’s a battery bank that could extend the mileage, and be detached to run camping gear like an electric cook too, etc. You could leave it charged at home for power outages, and drop it on the truck if you need more range for a longer trip.

There are numerous topics and threads on this subject if you use the search command. Thoughts are all over the place. General consensus is no where near enough juice to justify doing it but we’ve all suggested it would be cool

This thread is long, so this may have been mentioned already. For any menu that shows the vehicle, have it match the actual factory vehicle color as a default, with the ability to customize the color for those who like to wrap their vehicles. I hate seeing generic "grey" vehicles in my current menus.

Also, make sure to allow the ability to keep the driving lights on at slow speeds. My wife's VW Atlas thinks it's more intelligent than I am and kept turning on the headlights one night while driving around slowly to look at Christmas lights. Thankfully, I reprogrammed this "feature" with my OBDEleven.

This brings me to my last request: provide an advanced config option for those who want to customize our vehicles further. This could be behind a "well-known secret" menu to keep the masses happy with fewer "options."
