  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I usually ignore the personal attacks, but I’m going to stop you right there. I am a US Air Force Veteran and a single father living in Texas. Calling a fellow reservation holder "Chinese Agitprop" because you disagree with their economic outlook is not "product expertise"—it is delusional and...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

You are spending a lot of energy reviewing the "engine" because you can't debunk the economics. You claim the "Chasm" was already referenced. Great. Then you should understand what it actually means."Crossing the Chasm" isn't just a buzzword; it is the brutal transition from Visionaries (who...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I love that we are debating the "validity" of using modern tools to organize thoughts in a forum about Future Transportation. The irony of demanding we use quill and ink to discuss electric vehicles is palpable. The future is here; you can either use the tools to be efficient, or you can yell at...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I step away for one Sunday to enjoy the real world, and I come back to find the fan club holding an emergency meeting. I’m flattered by the attention. Regarding your "Start your own car company" argument: That is the intellectual equivalent of saying, "If you don't like the food, go into the...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I think you are giving the R2 way too much credit. Let’s be real about what the R2 is: It’s a small, unibody crossover. It is essentially an electric RAV4 or CR-V. Celebrating a $45,000 price tag for a compact crossover isn't a victory; it’s proof of how warped this market has become. A vehicle...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Congratulations, detective. 🕵️‍♂️ You caught me... using a tool to help format my arguments? Stop the presses. Let’s be clear: I use AI to help organize my thoughts, clean up my grammar, and structure my posts because I value clarity. I feed it my specific points (like the Maverick data), my...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

@eunichron, that Chicago inventory data is a fair snapshot, but I think the conclusion that "no one buys them because that's not what they want" is missing a huge piece of recent history: The Ford Maverick. When the Maverick launched at $19,995, it didn't just sell well; it was the...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

You are spot on—turning the Titanic is impossible, and the internal politics at places like Ford and VW are exactly why they invested in Rivian instead of fixing their own houses. But this is exactly why I am so critical of Scout’s potential pricing. Scout was/is supposed to be the Speedboat...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I agree with you that the threat of Chinese EVs is real, but I think you are misdiagnosing why the industry is vulnerable. It’s not just bad luck or "uncertainty"—it’s self-inflicted. The entire US auto industry has made itself a "sitting duck" for foreign competition because of Greed-flation...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I am unsure how you've tried to twist anything I said into me "being upset," but hey, it's text and difficult to interpret. I’m just allergic to the idea that a multi-national corporation is "guessing" with $2 billion of shareholder money. If being precise about manufacturing economics comes...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I assure you, the frustration is very human. My username is also a pretty dead giveaway as to who I am if you look closely, but I’ll leave the detective work to you. I need to focus on your statement that "none of us know right now what it will cost to produce a Scout in 2027/2028. Not even...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I actually agree with your breakdown of the costs—but that breakdown is exactly why I’m holding Scout to a higher standard. You listed "Dealer Overhead" (sales staff, brick & mortar, floor plan interest) as a major driver of the final price. You are 100% correct. The franchise system adds...

Are you OK with Scout vehicles starting under $60K?

You guys realize I can see these posts, right? openly coordinating a "silent treatment" in a public thread isn't exactly a covert operation. It’s a tactic usually left behind in middle school lunchrooms. It is also a massive "tell." When the strategy shifts from refuting the data to "everyone...
