  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Why the door handles/locks should not be purely electric...

While I suppose this is possible, I’m not aware of any EV that doesn’t use a DC to DC converter to run the 12V/14V/28V electrical system off of the main 400V/800V traction battery when the traction battery is on. So exiting the vehicle and walking around would only rely on the 12V battery...

    Software Features

The Rivian and Tesla would notice the owners phone and/or key fob being “near by” and make various external controls active. Any that a foam cannon might register as a request to activate would be an issue, like spraying the charge cover on the Tesla would be interpreted as a request to open...

Current EV owners…are you staying BEV or switching to Harvester?

I know “yesterday” is really quite recent in the grand scheme of things.

    Software Features

I’ve had one EV without a car wash mode and two with Car wash modes. I would think any EV where you need to do multiple things before you go into a car wash should just bundle them all together in Car Wash mode to make it easy. So if for example you need to disable automatic windshield wipers...

Cruise Control Following Distance (and other assists)

Oh, now that you mention it, that is a complaint I have about Rivian’s cruise, if you don’t want it to be ACC that’s too bad (or alternately “through the simple, intuitive, convenient method of attaching a 300lbs trailer you can select the alternative cruise control!”). I believe Tesla has a...

Cruise Control Following Distance (and other assists)

I don’t know if Rivian’s Driver+ and/or smart cruise control is included in their software sharing joint venture with VW or not, but just in case it is... I have a Rivian R1S I bough for reasons other then the self driving & driver assist. I had a Tesla Model Y prior to the Rivian, and prior...

Current EV owners…are you staying BEV or switching to Harvester?

I’m not real good at patience. I mean I put a deposit on my Scout yesterday, why don’t I have a VIN yet!!! :-) Ok, maybe I’m not quite that bad...

Current EV owners…are you staying BEV or switching to Harvester?

I’m leaning towards the Harvester. My current BEV is a Rivian R1S, and on most trips it is pretty awesome. Even when I drive well past its range it is easy to find chargers and while it doesn’t charge as fast as some EVs it is pretty respectable. So why add a gas engine to the mix? Well...
