  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Solid State Battery Tech for Dummies

first, I said the announcement would be this year as per Siva, CEO in response to question and production next year, please be accurate. here is a link https://s29.q4cdn.com/884415011/files/doc_presentation/2025/02/QS-IR-Presentation-February-25.pdf

Solid State Battery Tech for Dummies

Quantumscape's launch car will be announced before the end of this FY and will be PRODUCED next FY, long before the first Scout comes off the line. I think it is tragic that Scout wasn't the launch car. Everything else about Scout is new, why not use the highest tech batteries as well.

    solid state battery option

This is 1 year old information. QS with PowerCo have been able to scale QSE-5 and will soon be announcing the Launch Car for first production of the battery. Too bad it is not Scout.

Solid State Battery Tech for Dummies

Quantumscape has fully incorporated "cobra", their high-speed system for manufacturing their proprietary ceramic separator, a key ingredient to Solid State Battery production. They are now producing high-speed solid-state cells for batteries. It is a tragedy that Scout chose not to work with...

    solid state battery option

PowerCo has been working on SSB and it looks like it will be available around the end of 2026. They will not be in Giga production at that time, but small amounts of batteries will be available for a launch car. Why not make this an option based on a lottery system for those willing to pay more...

    Battery Life Cycle

SSB will make a huge difference in electric cars, and I just think that Scout has a real opportunity here to start with what is new rather than be a part of what is not working well (lithium ion batteries). The idea of a fossil fuel range extender is absurd to me, when SSB will do the job so...

Solid State Battery Tech for Dummies

Quantumscape (leading Solid State Battery) is in stiff competition with Factoral batteries (Mercedes) to produce the first Solid State Battery electric car. Quantumscape has a 2026 goal of producing its first commercial Launch using QSE-5 B1 high volume SSB batteries. It is too bad that Scout...

    Battery Life Cycle

I agree with you, I would not buy a Scout for anywhere near that. The premium I would expect for the SSB battery would be in the$5k to 10K range, dropping down to actually less money than Lithium-ion after the first few years. These batteries will be less expensive to produce.

    Battery Life Cycle

Within this year, two OEMs will announce launch vehicles with solid-state batteries (SSB) to be produced in 2026, 4 years before the next decade. One will be a Mercedes the other some type of Volkswagen or Volkswagen affiliate. These will both demonstrate that SSB can be produced in high enough...

    Battery Life Cycle

I agree. I wouldn't pay more than this for Scout with the solid-state battery. The batteries will be initially more expensive because the demand will far exceed the supply, but the actual cost of producing these batteries is expected to be less than that of lithium-ion batteries due to two...

    Battery Life Cycle

PowerCo and Quantumscape are now dealing with OEMs to produce these solid-state batteries. While I agree with you that wide-scale deployment of Solid State Batteries (SSB) will be closer to 2030, the initial use of it with cars that have low volume will start next year. If I was the CEO of...

    Battery Life Cycle

Quantumscape, PowerCo's solid state battery developer, has developed the QSE-5 solid state battery and will make these available through PowerCo (Volkswagen battery producer) within the next two years (about the same time Scout will start production) Current Lithium ion batteries will degrade to...

    Battery tech

I too will wait, the PowerCo plant in Canada, according to many in the reddit quantumscape post will be producing Quantumscape's solid state battery according to a statement (later walked back) by the new CEO of the plant. The solid-state battery should be able to get 600+ miles of range...
