  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

How Will Scout Keep Its Momentum Until 2027?

One idea, that I’m unsure of the economics of, is to start building showrooms now. I’d totally go visit a local scout showroom and buy shirts, and gawk at the pre-prod vehicles. Get a showroom up and running on shoestring at first near population centers and likely markets—SoCal for sure...

    48volt accessories?

The thing that sucks about lead acid batteries in general is that they fail so much more quickly than li-ion. It would be great if Scout, irrespective of voltage, could make the accessory battery li-ion.

    Brake pedal behavior: Preference?

This is interesting. One caveat to think about with one pedal is when the brake light comes on. With the brake pedal controlling regen strength it’s simple to activate brake light when pedal is pressed just like all currently existing Scouts. With full one pedal driving, an algorithm needs to...

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

I remember when Apple promised that touchscreen keyboards would be better than physical blackberry like keyboards. They would know what you were trying to type and it would be much less error prone. It’s not worked.

    48volt accessories?

I know Scout is using the Rivian Zonal architecture for the electrical accessories and control systems. I don’t know much about the zonal system. Is that 48v? Will there be a lead acid battery for accessories, or will there just be the drive battery for everything, or a separate li-ion...

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

After more thought I’d say I don’t want handsfree on my scout now. Three things govern this decision: 1.) I enjoy driving 2.) I do not need assistance at my age 3.) I do not trust current tech, or the tech that is likely to soon be available. If my Scout lasts 30 years, then by the end of...

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

I do not want my Scourt to have handsfree driving. I would love really good adaptive cruise control. Maybe auto braking and lane assist, or driver attention monitoring. But not handsfree, and certainly not fake autonomous driving that requires full attention from the driver to take over after...

Scout Motors announces in-vehicle satellite connectivity and highlights Scout Community UX interface at CES 2025

This is exciting! Satellite, roof rack mounted lights! Rallye graphics! I wish I was going to CES now. Can’t wait to see pictures. Now just need a portable solar 10kw array that can be unfolded on site for charging in the back country.

    CLOSED! Audio System Brand Poll

The worst branded audio system I ever had was Bose in my C4. It was soooo bad. Such a PITA to replace too because Bose decided to re-invent how everything worked. Couldn’t just replace speakers or AMP, or head unit. Even the speaker wire was some incompatible (really high gauge) wire and...

Enough space for two mountain bikes inside Traveler with seats down

Nice picture! Looks fun! When I had my ZJ it was before 29” wheels were mandatory. Back then most bikes were 26”. And were fun! So flickable, and just a blast to rip down twisty single track. 29ers are fun too, but they are different. All about going over stuff and efficiency. At any rate my...

    CLOSED! Audio System Brand Poll

My preference is “none”. Tesla’s have great audio, and I don’t think any are branded. Scout should Just quietly make the audio awesome.

No wasted space if not getting harvester

I read through a lot of discussion. It seems like the harvester equipped traveler will have 150 miles of all electric range, will weigh less, and be less expensive than EV only. But the removed cells might not make enough space for the size ICE and gas tank required to get to the 500 mile range...

    Questions about the Harvester

Uh. Those ranges are not even close to what you would get towing. General rule of thumb towing with EV is cut range expectations in half. And that’s only if you have fairly aerodynamic trailer. Could be worse if you are towing a brick. This somewhat matches ICE, but can be worse if the EV itself...

No wasted space if not getting harvester

For those who do not get the rex, make the space the rex would have occupied useful. Maybe get the spare in there? My wife has a non rex BMW i3. There is a giant cavity under the rear compartment where the rex would go if we had that option. For the pure electric version that space is closed...

Enough space for two mountain bikes inside Traveler with seats down

I imagine if Scout doesn’t come out with a good solution that I’d do something like this. Usually on my weekend ride it’s just two of us. For more than two the hitch and maybe even roof (as a last resort) would be needed. For trips with the fam to Moab or Sedona (8 hr drive) I’d want a good...
