  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

One feature that made you pull the the trigger on a reservation….

Memory of Scouts growing up, but also the want of an EV that can replace my current ICE SUV. Also the bench seats. Also knobs and buttons.

    Scout Deal Breakers

Subscription fees for things that are built in would be an instant turn off, like heated seats in the BMW fiasco. I don’t mind a subscription service for satellite internet, but I want to be able to itemize what I pay for every month and be able to see the value prop. Ads on the entertainment...

    Bench Seat vs Standard

Bench seat. Better for my spouse and I at the drive-inn movie theater ;)

    Seattle Scouts

I watched the committee hearing this afternoon from Feb 14th and subsequently emailed my rep. Rep Walden was careful not to show much bias, but the bill was rushed through public comment at the very end of a session. The season was busy with various bills concerning cannabis and liquor licenses...

    Traveler without rear tire carrier

I’m team tire carrier, but I can see myself using the frunk a lot.

    Self-driving integration with Open Pilot.

I don’t think open pilot depends on lidar - only radar and cameras. I think I would prefer a system / car that also used lidar. Lidar would help enormously in low visibility situations and could be used for automatic braking on foggy roads - particularly rural roads where you have deer or elk...

    Self-driving integration with Open Pilot.

If I drove 6,000 miles a month like MicroBiom I would want self driving too. Thats a lot of miles. I don’t though, so it’s not a priority for me.

How do you plan to kit out your interior?

I think I’m just impressed with how organized people are. Sure - I have some baseline items, a “winter crate”, and some bigger snow-related things I throw in for good measure… but all of that stuff invariably blends together in a mess as I use them throughout the year. So my shovel gets tangled...

How do you plan to kit out your interior?

I’m glad I’m not the only one who carries an AED in the back of their vehicle. It’s the more accessible there than tucked away at home. I was even thinking of getting an AED sticker in case someone really needed it while I was parked and had to break a window.

    Whinin’ and cryin’

The ID.4 got me to switch from Ford vehicles to VW. I have my gripes with the ID.4 - but I actually felt like their approach to the build, a modular ev platform was a good one. So I’m actually happy that Scout is in the umbrella of VW companies. Meanwhile I have to explain to people how I’m not...

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

No multi-function buttons, like those in the ID.4 where you have one button to toggle between “rear and front windows” and another two buttons to actually make either the left or right (front or back? No one knows!). It’s literally impossible to roll down or up the rear windows properly on the...

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

I was a little worried too, but my tractor is about 1500lbs (JD 1025r), and even with the wheel weights and some attachments I doubt I go much beyond 2000. My boat weighs nothing, and other trailers / loads (mostly lumber or garbage) are easily within range. As long as 5000lbs is accurate I...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Data privacy is important to me as well. I’m happy enough with an easily accessible opt-out (in the car UX) but I want to know how my personal information is being used and have control over it. My nightmare scenario is my insurance company adjusting my rates because of my driving style, or...

Tarrifs on Canada. Would you still buy?

Whatever happens, let’s say in two years we meet up near the border (any side) with our Scouts. Americans will bring a stockpile of Kraft Mac and cheese from Wisconsin/Missouri (which I recently learned is a Canadian staple) and the Canadians can bring down some Tim Hortons or poutine.

Tarrifs on Canada. Would you still buy?

I wouldn’t be surprised if Scout opens up a second plant in Mexico, so the international market is covered… but let’s just see what happens. A lot will change in the next 2-3 months.
