  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Design it to last 20 years

I don’t think there is anything particularly unique about servicing high-voltage systems if they have the right shutoff mechanisms, warnings, and documentation. Homeowners can still work on 220v circuits themselves as long as they still do the permitting/inspection process, but that’s a home...

    Scout Supply Merchandise Live

Just ordered. I don’t like to wear a lot of logos, but for whatever reason these logos give me joy.

Scout Motors announces in-vehicle satellite connectivity and highlights Scout Community UX interface at CES 2025

I’m not a phased array antenna expert (my Dad is/was to an extent) but my understanding is that these receivers have to be quite well tuned to the specific band and characteristics of a satellite. Maybe in the future there may be a generic one but there is a great deal of software/custom...

Poll: Would you use a Scout configurator tool if pricing and details are not finalized yet?

I want to configure my car, and then drive it around in a video game. Maybe I could take it on a PNW forest service road, or in the desert, or to the supermarket where I can fill the back with groceries.

    Offering diesel

One advantage of diesel is the fuel longevity. Not that I think diesel is realistic for the scout or even something I would personally want, but one of the silly thoughts rattling around the back of my head is, “if I get a harvester model, and I don’t happen to use gas for 6 months (because...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I like the lack of a big screen and all sorts of odd ball whatchmacallits. I don’t know if I would like it in real life, but my first reaction is, “dang, that’s a lot of cool looking knobs”

What If the Harvester Shed 1,000 lbs and Got Better? The Case for LTO + EA211-ERV

With respect, I use AI nearly constantly now at work. Using these tools well means knowing when to stop, reevaluate and refine the underlying assumptions that generated the output. LLMs are very useful, but at their core they are stochastic parrots. Once you have established a context window...

What If the Harvester Shed 1,000 lbs and Got Better? The Case for LTO + EA211-ERV

I commute 30 miles a day. Having a larger range means I don’t have to plug in every night. I can park on the street, or forget about plugging in for a while. 150 miles is pretty good for most people though, and it supports the hour-long commuters with a bit of headroom. Honestly most harvester...

What If the Harvester Shed 1,000 lbs and Got Better? The Case for LTO + EA211-ERV

I think you may also be overestimating the power that the EA211 would provide. Hopefully this isn’t a surprise to anyone, but this is a small engine. It’s much too small to take on the full burden of continuous mountain towing by itself and that is before the loss of conversion. The current...

What If the Harvester Shed 1,000 lbs and Got Better? The Case for LTO + EA211-ERV

This makes sense if you want a higher performance, but 95% of the time all I need or want is electric. I’m willing to pay for the extra weight to give me an electric commute. I do think the EA211-ERV is really interesting. It looks like it is being manufactured in China but I wonder if it could...

    Front Bench Seat Safety

I believe it will be above the screen. The horizontal orientation of the screen was designed in part to accommodate bench seat safety features.

    Higher Range

It would be cool to see a graph of kWh vs speed on the dash, with a little arrow pointing to where I am on the efficiency curve. A little feedback mechanism to help put the concept of drag as the square of velocity in context.

EV reservation holders, would you consider the Harvester

Yeah. GM just settled a federal/state lawsuit for selling vehicle data (location, behaviors) to brokers so they are off my list for… a while. Of course, now GM is the only company /prohibited/ from selling data for five years, but that they did it in the first place points to some...

EV reservation holders, would you consider the Harvester

If the EV was 450 miles I would switch from harvester in a heart-beat. The simplicity is worth it. It’s true that I don’t need much more than 150 miles for 99% of my driving, but I already have an EV for that. If the scout is replacing my current SUV I want something where the 100% range is...

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

Yeah, I own one now. In Europe there is a menu option to disable cellular. In the US there is no option. I don’t entirely recall the specific model, but the embedded computers planned for the scout are pretty rugged and tamper proof, so there is no way to fully disconnect without a software option.
