  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    An Appreciation Post for Jamie

I certainly appreciate Jamie and all but the level of brown-nosing around here feels awkward at times. Some threads are nothing but five people saying their copy and paste welcomes.

Scout Terra Debuts in New Silo Color and Retheme

Love: The color (perfect metallic) 37s (perfect size proportionally for a four door) Hate: The halo roof racks (looks like a goofy afterthought) 18” wheel (should be 17”)

    Vehicle Visualizer/Configurator Tool

Yes, that would be awesome. Call it whatever; visualizer and configurator are the same thing when everything is “subject to change” anyway.

    Single Touch Window Controls

I think holding down the unlock button to roll the windows down is fairly common. Rolling them all the way back up is the tricky part. I know the Tesla will roll them back up from a vented position but that’s it; will a Rivian roll the windows all the way back up remotely?

Make it easy to precool your Scout and create routines (Mobile Integration)

Add it to the key fob, since there is one, I’d much rather use that than pull out my phone, find the app, open app, find the button in the app, push the button in the app, wait for everything to sync, ok, finally. I use remote start on my key fob every single time I start the Bronco. Edit...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

You may have missed the excerpts that I posted where VW Group very much indicated that Scout Motors is not merely an investment. They are directing Scout Motors decisions. It’s more akin to a subsidiary. That is not the impression I think most folks here previously had.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

From The Drive article: “Per Automotive News, VW Group CFO Arno Antlitz confirmed during the company’s earnings call that the Harvester will be a naturally aspirated four-cylinder of unknown size that will be assembled at the company’s engine plant in Silao.” I don’t understand why VW is...

What do you all do? Curious about Scout buyers occupations, or former occupations.

Civil litigator mostly focused on business torts, partnership disputes, and some environmental practice. I’m confident that I’m not the only attorney here; the rest are laying low because no one likes an attorney until it’s your son/daughter.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Nice to see Scout's GC is confident that VW "is not involved in Scout Motors' management or operations" (I badly want that to be true!) but they're in unchartered legal territory. No other major automaker that I know of has gone DTC with a subsidiary. I love DTC but this doesn't pass the smell...

    Re-think Headlight Design

I think it looks better than nearly every other vehicle on the road right now, even despite the funky headlights. As for not being a copy cat, it looks a lot more like an updated Mitsubishi Montero (which I love) than an updated IH Scout.

    Re-think Headlight Design

Young people don’t automatically have bad taste. And what’s with this argument that the new Scout can’t be retro/nostalgic? That’s the worst marketing position possible.

    Re-think Headlight Design

When I first saw the headlights during the reveal, I instantly thought, 'Oh boy, they're trying too hard to avoid looking like a Bronco and ended up butchering the frontend' and it appears I was right. When your design is led by not being something instead of being something, you get weirdness...

So, how many reservations so far?

If you build it, they will come. Don’t worry about keeping people excited. We don’t need an Off Roadeo. We don’t need a Scout hammock or flag. We certainly don’t need special treatment for a select few. Just build it.

So, how many reservations so far?

Maybe if you say it enough times, it’ll come true?

    Decoding Reservation Numbers

The benefit might just be that you get a little badge next to your name that says “1st Year Member.” I’m sticking with the FAQ, and the email, that Scout put out.
