  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Size comparison

I've got the Traveler compared with the four door Bronco here. It's not a visual side by side on width using images of the vehicles, but you can see how the measurements stack up. https://community.scoutmotors.com/threads/size-comparison.1302/post-95196

    Sizing up the competition

Can you expand on that? What makes the Terra dimensions better for a pickup than the F-150?

    Sizing up the competition

That's one of the takeaways I was hoping people would draw from this comparison! Upon first look I think a lot of folks picture the Terra as an R1T copy or expect it to be in the same class as the Tacoma, since the Tacoma is such a popular off-roader. So I wanted to include the R1T and Tacoma...

And here's the Traveler against some gas rivals. I tried to focus it on 2 row SUVs and solid rear axles, but there's only so many of those. The Tahoe is here for contrast on the full size SUV end. There's more of an off road focus on these vehicles, so I used the Trail Ready prototype with...

    Size comparison

The Traveler is a big 2 row SUV, so there aren't great direct comps. To help put that in perspective, I split the comparison graphic into two. This one shows the Traveler against other large SUV EVs. There's more of a luxury or city-focused segment here, so I used the Mountainside prototype...

And here's the Terra measuring up against some gas powered trucks.

Here's an update on the comparison graphic so you can see more explicitly the size difference between the Terra and the R1T, and the ground clearance bars give the R1T credit for its air suspension max ground clearance.

    Size comparison

I had the Hummer EV in my longer list before winnowing down to the four in the chart just because it is a large EV SUV. But is it a vehicle people shopping for a Traveler EV actually consider as an alternative? The Hummer always seems so gimmicky to me. Perhaps I could make an EV only...

    Size comparison

Here's the comparison chart for the Traveler! I went with the Toyota Land Cruiser since it's a two row (rather than the 3 row Sequoia), the 4 door Bronco with 35s so that it was more comparable in build to the Traveler, and the R1S. I chose the R1S over the R2 even though it's a 3 row because...

    Size comparison

Two years since announcement, what vehicles do you all think are reasonable comps for the Traveler now? I was thinking about making a comparison graphic similar to the one I made for the Terra https://community.scoutmotors.com/threads/sizing-up-the-competition.7846/

    Sizing up the competition

Question for the off-roaders and overlanders in the forum: does the length of the wheelbase surprise you at all? I don't do much off roading (poorly maintained forest roads are about as rough as I get), but I would think a shorter wheelbase would help with getting over obstacles. I get that...

Standard specs are good enough for me right now. Just trying to get a feel for the size of truck.

    Sizing up the competition

I can't wait to see the Terra in my driveway and my eyes are wandering toward the competition. I built this dimensional comparison for myself and thought some of y'all might like it as well.

F-150 Lightning BEV to EREV Strategy - Hank Green

Excellent details @SpaceEVDriver, thanks for taking the time to write it all out. My biggest takeaway is that in either vehicle, you’re hauling around weight you don’t need if you’re only driving 50 miles or so a day. My assumption that the EREV weighs less than the BEV wasn’t based on...

F-150 Lightning BEV to EREV Strategy - Hank Green

I'm a Terra reservation holder still waffling between the EREV and BEV. I started with an EREV reservation, switched to BEV, and am leaning back in the EREV direction again. I just watched Hank Green's video on the Ford F-150 Lightning strategy adjustment from BEV to EREV and while he's a big...
