  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

I hope @Jamie@ScoutMotors can clarify on the '5k for towing' remark. I genuinely expect 2k to just be removed from the topline tow capacity number. Makes engineering sense for Traveler to go 7k->5k and Terra 10k->8k. You put a heavy motor aft of the rear axle, you're eating X% of the tow...

But its crap for a truck. I was VERY much expecting to tow my 6500lbs trailer with the truck and gas it as needed. I get it if it drops 2k from the top line. So if the Terra goes from 10k to 8k, thats reasonable. But Terra dropping from 10k to 5k?! Thats.. not bueno.

Wait. Did he just say the tow capacity drops to 5000lbs with Harvester in it?! Timestamped to jump to that part:

Could really go for the pull out table about now..

I'll make sure to leave them in the sun a bit so they get that 'fresh air essence' ;)

Finally some sympathy! It's barely into the 70s in January! Barely even livable here. ;)

Decided a work 'from the beach' day was in order. Also could use a 110 plug or USBC with PD in about another hour here. :)

    Scout Motors at CES 2025

    > including the Harvester™ Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) option, Is the Harvester going to be on the shown SUV? And is this another SUV (a 3rd physical vehicle) or the same orange one, just with extra fun new stuff added on?

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

My take is that a lot of the towing is just physics. Doesnt really have much to do with the drivetrain type. My Tundra range/mpg drops right about half when pulling my GD 2400BH (30' long, 11.5' tall, ~6500lbs). So I'd look at what is your normal range vs your range when towing? That'd be a...

Have they determined that? Where did they specify they're using NMC?

    Actual pricing

I hope its not. I read https://aukehoekstra.substack.com/p/batteries-how-cheap-can-they-get 6mo ago and it makes some interesting arguments. It's not the same, but I've been watching RV batteries for a while. I bought 2x Weize 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries in Nov 2022 for $320/ea and they were the...

If you go to Tesla's website, https://www.tesla.com/modely/design#overview for example, you will see the pricing depending on the Cash/Lease/Finance tab. Did you notice the 'Include est incentives..' or 'Include est gas savings' checkbox below? Unclick that. Notice the price jump? Yea, thats...

Given how much batteries cost, it'll be interesting to see where they end up in the next couple of years (both tech and pricing). This might be a big influencing factor by the time Scout is ready to come to market...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

The way I see it is this Hopefully the pic is OK there. I call it a router. Probably a computer of some sort that either directs the electricity from the engine to the motors or the battery as it needs. Eninge over producing? Put enough to the motors and the rest recharges the battery. Engine...
