  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Current EV owners…are you staying BEV or switching to Harvester?

This might be splitting hairs but the poll in the link gives the option of “plug in hybrid” as a replacement of an EV and I don’t consider a EREV plug in hybrid (Harvester) to be the same as current “plug in hybrids” and there are no current offerings for a plug in hybrid truck. We owned a...

Current EV owners…are you staying BEV or switching to Harvester?

Current EV owners, are you planning to buy the BEV or the Harvester? And if you care to share, what’s your current EV and use case and what are your reasons for staying EV or switching to EREV. Please only vote if you are already drive an EV.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Spot on! Except I need 10K towing from the EREV or it’s a no go for me. We’ve been all EV since early 2022, Mach-e and Ioniq5. Fully aware of the EV downfalls, esp in rural Maine. Just sold the Mach-e and bought a gas F250 because -I don’t think Scout is going to deliver on the 10K towing...

    Making a Left Hand Turn

The Harbinger Motors EREV chassis that the motorhome is built on uses a 1.5l gas engine. I can't find it at the moment but I read somewhere that the generator is ~45-50 kW at 800V. They are expecting ~ 1mi/kWh consumption for any of the medium duty applications for the chassis...

    Making a Left Hand Turn

A little short on the EREV details and heavy on the RV aspect

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Thanks for the kind words. We saved for a long time and it was a lot of work. One thing about having a nice shop is you no longer have an excuse to not get things done. The roof is 10* off from N/S in anticipation of adding some more solar panels. Our house roof is maxed out with panels and...

    - Level 2+ Mobile Generator: Unlocking Full Harvester Potential

Harvester specs are not known yet and I’m not sure if you’re trying to suggest that the Harvester generator will only be 17kW but that seems awfully weak. Most are speculating it will be in the 75-100 kw range.

Bigger Gas Tank - 15 Gallons is Abysmal

The don’t go over 80% or under 20% guideline is way overblown. What you don’t want to do is go over 90% or under 10% and stay there. Charging to 100% right before using the vehicle is really no big deal and going below 10% is no big deal as long as you can plug in when you stop. In addition...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Built this in 23, 40x36 with a 14’ lean to, 10x12 doors, natural rough sawn board and batten hemlock. Bay 1 is my wife’s Mach-e, bay 2 my Ioniq5, bay 3 is for the tractor. Maybe a Terra in the middle bay someday. Should be able to fit a 30 foot camper across the back, hence the 12 foot doors.

Scout Spotters: Post your online finds here

Yeah, I’ve been meaning to stop in and look at it and see what the story is on it, but it’s nothing I’d ever buy, they’ve had it for at least 6 months.

Scout Spotters: Post your online finds here

There is an ‘80 at a Subaru dealer near me, looks nice but they are very proud of it at $69K https://www.stanleysubaru.com/used/International/1980-International-Scout-Ellsworth-Maine-596516b70a0e09a82bc307b2f01b779f.htm

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

DC fast charging is $0.40-0.50/kWh. The Scout vehicles will likely get 2-2.5 mi/kWh in warm weather, so $0.20-0.25/mile. Similar ICE vehicles get 20-25 mpg, with gas at $3/G that’s $0.12-0.15/mile. Charging times will vary widely based on the power of the DC fast charger and the temperature...

Deep Dive into EREV - Ramcharger vs Harvester?

This diagram indicates what some of us have been saying...that the generator supplies electricity directly to the drive motors, so it doesn't just "recharge the battery"

    Free charge

It's not "free"...you have to pay for the panels, wires etc, opportunistic but not "free" and the amount of energy added is a micro drop in the bucket
