  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Deep Dive into EREV - Ramcharger vs Harvester?

This diagram indicates what some of us have been saying...that the generator supplies electricity directly to the drive motors, so it doesn't just "recharge the battery"

    Free charge

It's not "free"...you have to pay for the panels, wires etc, opportunistic but not "free" and the amount of energy added is a micro drop in the bucket

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

+1 Not a fan of 1PD, Not familiar with regen in the Mercedes, but Hyundai/Kia nailed it with their regen setup

    Range and Competitiveness

This article seems contrary to the current popularity of PHEV's in China https://insideevs.com/news/710334/china-plugin-car-sales-january2024/

    Comparing preorders to Bronco sales

preorders with a refundable $100 deposit doesn't mean anything

    Questions about the Harvester

The poll you suggested would be interesting too as the respondents may or may not have EV experience, but any responses are also based on a limited knowledge of what the Harvester specs are.

    Questions about the Harvester

I posted a similar poll on another Scout forum, results are not what you expect https://www.scoutevforum.com/forum/threads/current-ev-owners-are-you-sticking-with-full-ev-or-switching-to-erev-harvester-scout.11339/

    Questions about the Harvester

I agree that Scout should try to avoid decreased performance situations especially seeing as how the i3 and Volt got massacred for this and they were “econo”vehicles. Having that situation in a truck would absolutely kill it’s rep Perhaps some sort of warning once the gas is depleted, something...

Cold Climate Auxiliary Heat From Harvester ICE

Arctic package would be cool, and maybe something EV companies should consider as the use case for EVs is so different in cold weather.

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

FWIW and in case you didn’t know L1 (110V) charging is about 10% less efficient than L2 (220V) charging. And getting back to the OPs topic, depending on the size of the generator and how its power is implemented, I’d be happy with paying less for a battery that was only capable of 50-75 miles...

Cold Climate Auxiliary Heat From Harvester ICE

This would indeed be a nice feature for those of us in colder climates. Not sure how this could be executed since Scouts are coming with a heat pump standard. Adding this feature would require some interface between the standard heat pump and a traditional heater core or an entirely separate...

Hybrid pickup truck options in the U.S.: 5 current & 10 future models

I agree, Super Duty is not in the same category, and would be more truck than I need, but if that’s the only option for an EREV truck that can maintain full towing capability on gas only, then I’ll buy more truck than I need. Not really interested in being an $80-100K Guinea pig for Stelantis...

Hybrid pickup truck options in the U.S.: 5 current & 10 future models

The future SuperDuty hybrid is reportedly a series hybrid EREV. If the Terra Harvester is not "gas and go" capable, even when towing then I'll probably pass and the SuperDuty will be the next truck on my radar.

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

Probably not practical from a production standpoint, but how nice would it be if the buyer had options of battery size for the plug-in, could dial it in for your own circumstances.

    Camp mode

This doesn’t mean anything unless you make assumptions about when the gas tank was filled.
